24/07/2011 Matthew wins Bronze at the U23 World Rowing Championships breaking a World Record in the process

Finals Day, conditions on the course are strong winds and rain. The line up is USACzech Republic, Germany, Great BritainNetherlands, Poland. Coming through the 1000m Marker USACzech Republic and Germany are in  a row with Great Britain two feet down. In the last 500m USA have the lead followed by the Czech Republic followed by Germany and Great Britain who are now neck and neck. 22/07/2011 Day two of Racing at the World U23 Rowing Championships

Today Matthew raced GERMANY, ITALY, AUSTRALIA and the NEATHERLANDS. The end result was 2nd to GERMANY earning him a place in the A Final and the chance of another Worlds medal.

21/07/2011 Heats of the World U23 Rowing Championships Mens 8+

Today, Matthew came up against the best oarsmen in the world, but only one would go straight through to the final. To his left USA, GERMANY and to his right ITALY. The end verdict was 2nd place to the USA by a small margin of 0.40 seconds which equates to around 2cm over a 2000m course.

7/07/2011 Selection to Represent Great Britain in the Mens 8+

After a year of hard training and a week of fierce seat racing Matthew has been selected to once again represent Great Britain in the Mens 8+ at the U23 World Rowing Championships held in Amsterdam.
